PRÉSENTATION ORALE [DE DEUX MINUTES] SUR LE TABAGISME EN FRANCE

TWO-MINUTE ORAL PRESENTATION ON THE SUBJECT OF SMOKING IN FRANCE

For my French oral exam I have chosen to talk about the subject of smoking in France. Thus, during the following two minutes, I am going to present – in a few words – the precise topics that I have researched and that I would like to discuss:

The first title is, “It is bad for the health of French people”, and I intend to examine the health problems caused by cigarettes. I can also quote the exact words used by doctors when they talk about this subject.

The next section is, “Reasons for smoking”. For this section, I am going to explore the reasons and the excuses given by smokers to justify their bodily abuse.

Another aspect of this subject is, “Who smokes, and a comparison with the numbers of recent years”. This title will study the statistical differences between present-day tobacco consumption and the consumption of yesteryear.

The sub-heading “How one can stop” gives me the opportunity to talk about the measures one can use to fight dependence. I will evaluate the effectiveness of these methods, and I will give explanations as to their success or failure.

“La Loi Evin, 1992” is a law that tried to stop people starting to smoke – and attempted to combat the dependence of people who do smoke – by the prohibition of certain things, and also other methods. I will describe this law more fully later on.

There are several numbers which underline interesting differences between France and other countries – undeniable statistical evidence, in fact.

For the sub-heading entitled “How one can evaluate physical dependence on nicotine”, I am going to explain a test that was created by Dr. Fagerström which allows you to judge your addiction to this drug.

“Measures we can use to discourage smoking commencement” is the penultimate theme for discussion, and it is a topic that requires no explanation!

Finally, “A portrait of a typical 18 year-old smoker” examines common characteristics amongst the majority of smokers of that age.

There you go! [^]
