Write a story about World Hunger

It’s the evening, 8pm to be precise. Hervé and Nicole are at the table, eating dinner in front of the television. On telly is a programme called World Hunger. It’s ironic, as Mr and Mrs Legrand have lots to eat! In fact they are eating: bread, chicken, carrots, peas, rice, and meat – the bread alone is enough for a small country! They have mineral water and wine to drink – both red and white wine. The bread is in a large basket, and Mr Legrand is eating it greedily! Whilst they eat and watch, they think about ‘hunger’ – when Mrs Legrand brings Hervé his fruit, he decides to do something to help those in need. They are absorbed by the programme, and, after Nicole has cleared the table and done the washing up, they talk about hunger ~

Hervé: “Oh my, that was a horrific programme. Those poor people need help!”

Nicole: “Yes, I agree. What a shame – it really is frightful! What can we do to help them?”

Hervé: “It’s very sad – it’s making me cry! We could buy provisions and send them to the afflicted countries.”

Nicole: “Good idea! I will go shopping tomorrow.”

Hervé: “And I will look for some cardboard boxes. I think there are some in the garage and also in the cupboard.”

The next day, after Nicole has done the shopping and Hervé has found the boxes, they begin putting the provisions in packages. They use scissors, string, labels, and a bit of glue.

Finally, with zestful enthusiasm and a lot of pride, they walk to the post office to send the packages.
